The 365 Kittens-a-Year Calendar Contest

RULES: Enter a picture of the kitten that has won a place in your heart, so that it may win a place in America's, too. Winning photos will appear in color in the calendar. The only limit to the number of potential winners is the number of days in the year.

PHOTOS: Kittens should be one year old or younger. Either color photos or 35mm color slides are acceptable (be sure to put slides in an envelope). The picture can be standard snapshot size or larger and must be in sharp focus. Write the kitten's name, your name, address, and daytime telephone number on an adhesive label and attach it to the back of the photo. Do not write directly on the photo. Do not attach tape to the front of the photo. Do not include humans in the photo. Do not fold the photo. Please write clearly.

DIGITAL PHOTOS: Photo printing stations such as the KODAK Picture Maker kiosk produce prints using a method that is not suitable for reproduction in the calendar. Digital photos should be submitted with a color print-out and an accompanying cd-rom containing the original JPG or TIFF file. This file has to be at least 266 dpi for the format of the calendar (width: 3.50 inches/height 3.67 inches).

ENTRY FORMS: Please tape (do not staple) the filled-out entry form to the back of the photo. If you wish to enter more than one photo, photocopy the blank entry form, fill it out, and attach it to each photo. (Photos not accompanied by individual entry forms will not be considered for the contest.)

JUDGING: Kitten photos will be judged for their ability to set the tone for the day. Mood studies, beautiful portraits, and quite the unusual will all be considered. Judges include members of the Workman Publishing Company staff.

All photos entered are not returnable and become the property of Workman Publishing, which will have the right, without further consideration, to use the photos in the 2008 and 2009 calendars and in any other calendar, publication, media, and related promotion. Principals and employees of Workman Publishing may not enter the contest. The contest is void where prohibited by law.

Only the winners will be notified by mail no later than October 31, 2008.

Entries must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2008. Entries received after that date will be considered for the 2010 calendar.
